What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy is an evidenced-based treatment approach that allows children to process their challenges, increase relational understanding, and develop problem solving skills. Through developmentally appropriate learning, children use play as their language. Through play therapy, children can learn to understand their feelings, tolerate and healthfully express emotions, communicate thoughts and feelings, increase social skills, identify problem solving skills, learn anger management techniques, implement calming strategies for anxiety and stress, and increase relational attachment to others. Parents will learn the themes and patterns of their child’s challenge through this process, and implement structured techniques and strategies guided by the therapist.
