Thursday and Friday evening availability.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background in providing support to children, teens, adolescents and adults. My experience includes working with individuals experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, end of life, chronic illness, and life transitions. Having worked in the mental health field for ten years, I am committed to helping children and their families through whatever life challenges they are faced with.
The therapeutic relationship with children is just as crucial as the clinical techniques that I use. My approach is warm and empathetic, and includes a research-informed backing that creates positive and sustainable change. By combining children's natural language of play with the evidenced-based foundation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, my role is to help children understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Once we have established an understanding of the intersection of these concepts, we continue to use play to support their learning of new skills. Through this, children can improve on emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, prosocial behavior, attention capacity, coping mechanisms, and relaxation. I wholeheartedly believe children benefit from a team of helpers, and therefore I involve parents and/or other caregivers every step of the way. Through frequently-held parent sessions, ongoing assessment of established goals, and providing parent strategies/skills/techniques, I ensure parents are thoroughly integrated into the treatment process. I am eager to work with you and your family!
