Hello! I'm Tamar, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who specializes in working with children and their families. I have more than 20 years of experience as a clinical social worker. I have worked with children and families in a variety of different settings including private practice, outpatient mental health clinics and inpatient psychiatry. I also worked as a School Social Worker in an elementary school for ten years and have extensive experience assisting children emotionally in the school setting and knowledge of special education.
I truly love working with children and families! I have a warm, supportive and empathic approach and use my knowledge of child development, attachment, neurobiology, play therapy, mindfulness, trauma and cognitive behavioral therapy to help children manage their feelings, improve self esteem, work through challenges and improve behavior. I have extensive experience and training in the treatment of childhood anxiety, anger management, opposition and defiance, grief, low self-esteem, childhood depression, life transitions including parental divorce, and school anxiety.
Parenting a child who is struggling emotionally can be lonely, painful and challenging. But there is hope! As a therapist, I have seen countless children and families progress, meet their goals and work through emotional challenges. I view parents as an integral part of the therapy process and consider us a team working together to support your child. In addition to the therapeutic services I provide your child, I provide regular parent sessions in which we discuss progress, current challenges and strategies for supporting your child emotionally at home. I am excited to start working with you and your child!
